As the head educator of the lower elementary department at Island Village Montessori School, she brings a unique blend of linguistic insight and educational expertise, holding a BA in Linguistics and an M. Ed in elementary education. Her engaging workshops at the Early Childhood Summer Residency program and esteemed institutions like New Gate reflect her commitment to sharing the Montessori philosophy with fellow educators. Beyond the classroom, Whelma embraces a life rich in creativity and joy, indulging in dance, music, and travel, while walking a spiritual path grounded in practicality that inspires those around her to cultivate both knowledge and wonder.

Zech Hook brings over 12 years of dynamic teaching experience to his role as a certified Montessori educator and adult learner mentor. He holds a BA in Theatre and Speech from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and earned his MACTE-accredited Elementary I and II credentials through the Montessori Live Educator Training Program. Zech served as the Lead Upper Elementary Teacher at Joseph Bruno Montessori Academy, guiding full-curriculum integration across math, science, language arts, geometry, and history. His educational background also includes serving as a Teacher-Naturalist and Team Leader at Camp McDowell Environmental Center, where he facilitated hands-on STEM and environmental education. A professional storyteller invited to present at schools and events across the Southeast, Zech brings a passion for hands-on learning, creative engagement, and authentic Montessori practice to every classroom.

His journey began in 1960, leading him to become a pivotal figure at the renowned Whitby School, where he shaped the early foundations of Montessori education in North America. A dedicated teacher trainer, Dr. Czaja shared his wisdom and experience with countless schools across the globe, enriching the lives of both educators and children. Fatma Singer served on the Island Village Montessori School faculty for over 10 years, bringing with her more than three decades of AMI early childhood certification. Monique Czaja brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education that spans over four decades, making her an invaluable resource at Montessori Live Teacher Training. Her journey as an AMS Montessori educator began in 1978, where her dedication to fostering a love for learning flourished. As a teacher trainer since 1986, Monique has inspired countless aspiring educators, sharing her extensive knowledge gained from her liberal arts and humanities studies at Bradford College. Her tenure as a faculty member and supervising educator at Island Village Montessori not only honed her skills but also solidified her commitment to nurturing the next generation of Montessori teachers, ensuring their success in creating vibrant learning environments that embody the Montessori philosophy.

Elaine Palmore brings a wealth of experience and passion for education to Montessori Live Teacher Training, seamlessly blending her extensive background as an educator and administrator with her deep understanding of child development. Having returned to IVMS in 2013 after leading the Child Development Center at Middle Tennessee State University, she is committed to fostering a nurturing and engaging learning environment. Elaine’s dedication to the Montessori method is evident through her credentials, including her early childhood Montessori credential from MECA-Seton and her master’s degree in teaching from Belmont University. With her Florida elementary education certification, Elaine is devoted to inspiring future educators and ensuring that each child reaches their fullest potential in a supportive and innovative setting.

With a passion for nurturing young minds, Cathy Gwilliam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role at Treasure Village Montessori Charter School. Her diverse educational background in kinesiology, health, and elementary education, combined with her Montessori Method certifications, equips her to create engaging, holistic learning experiences for children ages 3 to 12. As a mentor teacher for Monroe County, FL, and a seasoned instructor since 2007, Cathy thoughtfully integrates physical education and wellness into her curriculum, fostering a love for movement and learning. Her dedication and expertise inspire her students to explore, grow, and thrive in a supportive environment.

Todd Johnson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Cowles Montessori community, where he has been shaping young minds since 2017. With a solid educational foundation that includes a BA in Elementary Education and a Master of Education Administration, Todd is dedicated to fostering a nurturing environment that promotes holistic learning for students from early childhood through middle school. His passion for education is complemented by his love for mentoring fellow educators, as seen in his role as a course instructor and presenter.
