This comprehensive course consists of two overlapping components designed to bridge theory and practice. The dynamic online class runs from September through March, while your hands-on teaching internship is completed at your approved school location from September through May. Please note that the entire course officially concludes on June 30th.

MTNU: Numeration and Place Value

This course covers the introduction to math for early childhood and elementary students in a Montessori setting. Simple counting and skip counting using Montessori materials are highlighted.

MTOP: Operations with Whole Numbers

MTOP: Operations with Whole Numbers

This course covers presentations on the Montessori materials for addition and multiplication. Materials for operations and memorization are demonstrated.

MTGM: Introduction to Geometry

MTGM: Introduction to Geometry

This course covers visual discrimination of two and three-dimensional forms, the beginning study of lines, angles, polygons, and circles as well as perimeter, area, and volume using Montessori geometry materials.

MTFR: Fractions and Decimals

MTFR: Fractions and Decimals

This course covers presentation with the Montessori materials on fraction equivalency, operations with fractions, and an introduction to decimal fractions.

MTAL: Decimals and Introduction to Algebra

MTAL: Decimals and Introduction to Algebra

This course covers presentations of the Montessori materials of decimals, percentages, and introduces algebra with presentations on squaring. The prerequisite course is MTFR.

Discovering the World: Montessori Cultural Studies

CBPU: Big Picture of the Universe

This course covers the story of the universe and the study of astronomy for elementary children. Lectures include the introduction of chemical elements and the relationship between energy and mass, as well as the philosophy, scope, and sequence of the Montessori cultural curriculum.

CEHS: Earth History, the Story of Life, and Human Civilization

CEHS: Earth History, the Story of Life, and Human Civilization

This course presents the Story of Life, including the Timeline of Earth History and Timeline of Life. The Kingdoms of Life introduces scientific classification and nomenclature, Physical and Political Geography, Imaginary Island studies, and the Timeline of Humans.

This face-to-face residency explores advanced lessons in math, language, cultural studies, and history. Participants interact with the materials, practicing lessons for older children, preparing lesson plans, demonstrations, and exams.

The Administrator Residency is held in Birmingham, Alabama. This 5-day, 40-clock-hour course will satisfy requirements for our School Leader Diploma program.
