UPDATE ON THE EARLY CHILDHOOD SUMMER RESIDENCY  

Due to the COVID-19 situation, Montessori Live is postponing our face-to-face Early Childhood Summer Residency until July of 2021.

In order to support our adult learners being able to complete their practicum experience during this coming school year, we requested MACTE to approve a live online session covering lessons in practical life and the sensorial area.  MACTE has recently approved our request to offer 24 hours delivered via live Zoom session.  Students will be able to participate from home which involves attending the online session as well as completing material practice demonstrations.

The live online sessions will replace 3 out of 11 days of the face-to-face Early Childhood Summer Residency. Our current faculty will deliver the classes beginning this summer (July 2020) from Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17, from 9 AM to 2:30 PM ET (Friday 9 AM to 1:30 PM) with a 30-minute break in the middle of each session.

Online sessions will cover most of the practical life and sensorial sequence that Montessori Live feels is essential for Early Childhood students to be successful next year. Combined with our online curriculum courses in language that we are adding to the July session and math courses that students will take in the fall, we would be able to allow the Early Childhood adult learner to start their practicum in September of 2020 instead of delaying until September of 2021.

The tuition cost for this course will be $500 and will cover 24 hours of instruction. Adult learners attending this year’s live Zoom sessions will be able to reduce the tuition cost for next year’s Summer Residency by that amount as well as reduce the number of days that they would be required to attend by 24 hours.

Attendance at the live Zoom session does not negate the requirement to attend the Summer Residency in July 2021. Adult learners who complete the online component this summer would participate in next summer’s residency for 8 days instead of 11 days. We have rearranged the tentative schedule for next summer (2021), which can be accessed here.

The online session will be scheduled for the first week of our currently scheduled face-to-face session starting Monday, July 13, and will conclude Friday, July 17.
