What We Do
Our Story
In 2005, while serving as Head of School at Island Village Montessori Charter School, Dr. Kym Elder identified a pressing challenge: many passionate educators wanted to pursue Montessori certification, but were hindered by high upfront tuition costs and the difficulty of leaving their families for extended periods at distant training centers.
To address this need, Dr. Elder established one of the first MACTE-accredited online certification training programs and transformed her original campus into the inaugural residency training facility.
Featured Testimonials
“Participating in this training program has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the Montessori philosophy, and all that it entails to be a Montessori educator. This training solidified my desire to be a part of the Montessori community, I stand behind the philosophy whole heartedly. I am so excited to be able to move forward with my career having gone through this process, and gaining new skills, insights and colleagues.”
“Participating in this training has enabled me to support my Montessori experience of twenty plus years with an in-depth knowledge of the methodology and application of the philosophy. As an administrator in a Montessori school, not having formal Montessori training while leading a team of Montessori educators, was always a contentious issue, limiting both, my possibilities to inspire those who were already trained and my capacity to help support their development and growth in the application of the method. Through this program, I feel that my work is more meaningful as I am now better able to serve as a resourceful support to others. This program has added value to my experience and expertize as a special educator and expanded my competencies as an effective Montessori educator.” I.M., Florida
“The Survey of Montessori Curriculum course was a fantastic experience for me. I am leaving with a sound understand of Montessori education and concepts. I feel like I will be better able to lead and supervise my staff now that I have completed this course. The instructor was wonderful; she was patient with us and explained everything in detail. She really did a great job making sure that we understood what was being taught before moving on. I would absolutely recommend this course to my colleagues.” J.R., California
“I really enjoy the videos, discussion questions, readings, and sharing ideas with each other in the discussions. This course allowed for more conversations during the live chats among the members. ” T.J., Iowa
