ANNOUNCING A NEW COURSE

SMCU Survey of Montessori Curriculum (self-paced professional development)

Montessori now offers the Survey of Montessori Curriculum as a self-paced professional development offering.  The course will cover an in-depth overview of philosophy and curriculum from early childhood through middle school and is intended for educational specialists, school support staff, district administration, and parents interested in a detailed understanding but do not have a need for certification.  This survey course could be an elective for education courses in post-secondary institutions.    However, the decision for credit would be up to the participants’ university. The instructor for the course, Dr. Kym Elder, has a master’s degree and doctorate in education and has taught adult learners since 2011.

This self-paced version is designed for anyone interested in an in-depth exploration of the Montessori curriculum and philosophy. Each topic explores a different part of the curriculum and its rationale. Participants will come away from this experience with an excellent understanding of how the curriculum is organized and why it is so effective. Even though the course is self-paced, participant progress will be monitored by Montessori Live faculty. Participants can ask specific questions and receive personalized responses throughout their participation. This course is not part of Montessori Live’s School Leadership Certificate or Diploma program.
