A few reminders:
3. If you are having problems connecting to the online class, a few suggestions:
a) Get closer to the router in your house if you are on wireless. Be sure no one in your house is playing video games or streaming high-definition videos. Please tell them to take a break until the chat is over.
b) Connect via ethernet if wireless is spotty.
c) Connect your headphone jack BEFORE you open the chat window.
d) Restart your browser first then restart your computer with your headphones connected to your audio jack.
e) Check any security programs you may have on your computer, especially if you have selected an option such as blocking or filtering traffic from the Internet. You can disable for the chat and then re-enable afterwards.
f) Update Adobe Flash Player (download from adobe.com), and be sure you are on the latest version of your Internet browser.
h) Change to another browser to see if the connection is better (from Safari to Chrome, for example).
i) Contact our tech support if you continue to have problems after investigating these options: [email protected]
Software Requirements
Most courses make use of the WizIQ chat room activity for live, interactive online conversations between students and their instructor. Use the following link to test your computer system for required compatibility and correct any deficiency found before trying to enter a WizIQ chat:
TEST MY COMPUTER
An Internet connection speed greater than 15 Mbps is needed. Be sure to scroll down the web page to the area that tests your computer’s speakers and microphone connection. To start that process you MUST click on the “Allow” check box in the Adobe Flash Player Settings box and then CLOSE that box. Using these handy online tools you should be able to test and adjust the functioning of your speakers and your microphone. If the Adobe Flash Player Settings isn’t working for you, then you can use your computer’s operating system to test and configure your headset. Be sure your headset is plugged in before doing this:
- For MAC OS computers, go to System Preferences, Sound
- For Windows OS computers, go to Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Sound, Manage Audio Devices
If you are having connection issues, not hardware or software related Consider using the WizIQ desktop application for improved connectivity Sorry, the app for Mac OS computers is still under development.
Get the Windows app: https://www.wiziq.com/desktop/
