The Montessori School Leadership Program is intended for administrators of Montessori public and private programs. This four-course concentration is designed to give school administrators and directors a sense of what is necessary to lead Montessori programs in both the private and public sectors. The program also gives administrators a broad understanding of the Montessori curriculum scope and sequence from early childhood through secondary levels. The program is recommended for principals and assistant principals who are currently running or will be running Montessori programs. Our program is designed especially to support new and experienced school administrators who have had no previous Montessori training or teaching experience.

Montessori Live Courses will be offered seven times throughout the year. Either the Foundations of Montessori Philosophy or the Survey of Montessori Philosophy course should be taken first when enrolling in this program. Not all courses will be offered at the same time. Refer to the current schedule on the Montessori Live Website for upcoming course offerings.

The Montessori Live School Leadership Program consists of the following online courses:

Foundational Courses

  • Foundations of Montessori Philosophy (FDN) – online 8 weeks
  • Observation and Classroom Management (OBS) – online 8 weeks

Curriculum Course

  • Survey of Montessori Curriculum (SMCU) – online 15 weeks

Applied Learning

  • Practical Applications for Administrators (PRAA) – online 15 weeks

The Survey of Montessori Curriculum course by itself is highly recommended for principals, assistant principals, district administrators managing Montessori programs, Montessori parents, as well as Montessori school boards of directors who have had no previous Montessori training. The semester course introduces participants to each area of the Montessori curriculum (math, language, science, and history). Montessori classroom management techniques are also discussed. Montessori philosophy is woven throughout the course to include early childhood, elementary, and secondary overviews.

Past participants include principals of both public and private Montessori schools as well as specialist educators and secondary faculty who are not seeking a MACTE accredited, Montessori Live teaching credential. These adult learners have expressed gratitude for their participation in the course.  In particular, district principals who have transferred into a Montessori program report having a renewed confidence in leading their school community as they work with experienced Montessori faculty members and parents.  Directors of early childhood programs report a new understanding of how to prepare their students for entering into a Montessori elementary program. Specialists, such as music, art, physical education, office administration, and pupil support personnel (ESE and ESOL staff) express an enhanced ability to support students and integrate their speciality into the general education curriculum.

This course may be taken by itself for professional or personal development in Montessori education or as part of a Montessori Leadership certificate program.  There are no registration fees for this course.  Students pay only course tuition and for textbooks that can be purchased or economically downloaded online from Amazon.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
